Naas is a passionate land defender, 24 years old, a two-spirit warrior (a term we talk about in the podcast) and a native youth leader from Hesquiaht, a Nuu-Chah-Nulth nation.
This interview adds depth to the one I had with Mar-Mar in addressing the difficulties Native youth experienced at the Fairy Creek blockade.
Naas speaks about sexual abuse and the feeling of not being heard, which lead to their withdrawal from the movement. We also talk about the division in the native community and the difficulty of coming together for a common purpose under COVID restrictions.
